Our Purpose
Building Resilient Teams in an Uncertain Industry
Industry Reality - Biotech is fundamentally different from other industries. Nine out of ten drug candidates fail. Clinical timelines shift based on data. Strategic priorities change. Capital markets fluctuate.
The Hiring Problem - In this environment of constant uncertainty, the traditional hiring playbook— build a large full-time team and hope the program succeeds—creates organizational fragility. Companies overhire during fundraising, then face painful layoffs when trials fail or funding tightens. This cycle burns capital, damages morale, and forces teams to lose talented people they may need again in six months.
The CRO Alternatives - The alternative—outsourcing everything to CROs—solves the flexibility problem but introduces new risks: loss of institutional knowledge, reduced control over critical decisions, and misaligned incentives.
The Clora Model
Clora was built on a different model: resilient teams that can scale with program needs without creating fragility.
The most effective biotech organizations combine three layers
This approach enables companies to move faster than competitors constrained by 4-6 month hiring timelines, preserve capital by avoiding premature team expansion, and maintain control over critical decisions—while building organizational resilience that survives program pivots and market cycles.
We don’t just connect companies with consultants. We enable biotech teams to operate with the speed and flexibility that drug development demands and that patients deserve — without sacrificing scientific rigor or strategic control. Every delay we help avoid is a step closer to patients receiving the therapies they need.
Leadership
Rahul Chaturvedi, Founder and CEO
Rahul founded Clora in 2016 after leading clinical development teams at biotech and medical device companies, resulting in bringing six new therapies to patients.
His experience spans IND-enabling studies through commercial approval across rare diseases, ophthalmology, allergy & immunology, and metabolic disorders. He experienced firsthand the fragility of traditional biotech staffing: companies overhiring during fundraising, then laying off talented people when programs failed or timelines shifted. Meanwhile, the best expertise often sat on the sidelines as independent consultants, inaccessible because companies lacked efficient ways to find and engage them.
Clora was born from the conviction that biotech teams could be built differently—with the speed and flexibility that drug development demands, without the organizational fragility that comes from betting everything on permanent headcount.
What started as a network of 50 consultants has grown to 15,000+, supporting thousands of projects across hundreds of companies from pre-IND startups to commercial-stage leaders.
Outside of Clora, Rahul hosts the Biotech2050 podcast, exploring the future of leadership, drug development, and innovation in life sciences.
